Canadian Love: The WeekNd
Looks like Toronto has given birth to another musical talented act. Composed of Abel Tesfaye on vocals & Jeremy Rose behind the beats, The WeekNd has stirred up a lot of buzz from their mix-tape "House Balloons". The mix-tape at hand contains sensual lyricism over a blend of synths, ranging from electro hip-hop and alternative indie. Just from listening to this mixtape there is a sense of musical inspiration from; Beach House, and Siouxsie and the Branshiee’s just to name a few. Critically acclaimed Toronto rapper Drake has publicly co-signed the WeekNd, especially through his Blog "Octobers Very Own". Speaking of Drake, one of his Key producers, Noah “40″ Shebib has been rumoured to have worked on the "House Balloons" Mixtape because of their affiliation. The WeekNd later clarified by tweeting, “40 did not produce anything on this tape … Shout outs to 40 though!!”. But with the amount of buzz stirring around this talented musical group, don't be surprised to see them blow up, as well as see a collaboration between The WeekNd, Drake, and 40. For all we know Boi1da can be in the equation. Minus Rebecca Black's "Friday", people are looking forward to what's in store for The WeekNd. CHECK THEM OUT!!
